SHORT STORIES: Tent City

In the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, a homeless shelter in Charlotte, North Carolina drastically reduced its capacity, sending would-be residents to sleep in tents outside. Seemingly overnight, the city’s unhoused population was on public display in the shadow of the second-largest banking city in the United States. Portraits of these Charlotteans were made using long exposures to protect their identities.
